FairEmail: Google Safebrowsing aktiv
Seit der Version 1.1045 hat der Android E-Mail-Client FairEmail Google Safebrowsing aktiviert. Nach meiner Ansicht passt dies nicht zu einem Client, der die Privatsphäre in den Fokus rückt. Daher habe ich bei Marcel angefragt, weshalb diese Funktion integriert ist und der Nutzer ein Opt-Out vornehmen muss. Seine Antwort:

For me this is a dilemma: on one hand Google safe browsing will increase privacy and security and on the other hand it will send data to Google.
What do you think would be more beneficial?
Google safe browsing can be disabled in the privacy settings. Note that it was formerly always enabled because this is the Android default.

Als Reaktion habe ich nachgefragt, wie Google Safebrowsing den Schutz der Privatsphäre verbessert. Die Antwort:

By warning when opening unsafe links in messages, for example links to phishing websites or websites containing malware.
The question is if exchanging this for data being sent to Google is the best option.
Note that default disable also means that people using Android versions before Android 8 cannot nable it again because programmatically enable/disable is supported from Android 8 only.

Was also tun? Der 0815-Nutzer wird sich kaum in die Einstellungen -> Datenschutz verirren und dort Google Safebrowsing aktivieren bzw. deaktivieren. Ist ein Opt-Out womöglich also die beste Variante? Ich bin da aktuell geteilter Meinung. Was meint ihr?
