Wow Mozilla! Mit der Integration von Cliqz dachte ich schon, ihr habt den ein oder anderen Vogel abgeschossen. Aber nein, ihr legt gleich noch nach mit der »Search Shield Study«. Wer bekommt das Addon?

Wenn ich das nun richtig interpretiere, werden 1-2% der Nutzer zufällig ausgewählt und bekommen das Addon gleich von Mozilla installiert. Remote-Installation von Addons? Auch das, liebe Mozilla Verantwortlichen, geht gar nicht! Entsprechend negativ fallen die ersten Rezensionen zum Addon aus:

On 9 September 2017, I noticed that my search toolbar disappeared. I put Firefox in safe mode and the toolbar returned. I began to disable the add-ons and noticed this „Search Shield Study“ thing. I disabled that and my search toolbar returned . When I disabled the thing, there were questions to answer and I did not answer the questions. To me, this is a sneaky, backhanded way to operate. Want to do a study, ask me?

Oder:

This add-on was installed without my permission and it hid my search bar until I found and disabled it. Clearly the disappearing search bar is a bug and not intentional, but it was frustrating trying to figure out the cause. If you’re going to force buggy add-ons on people, at least notify me first.

Mozilla, wie weit wollt ihr die Selbstzerstörung eures ehemals positiven Images eigentlich noch treiben? Ist die Teilnahme an der Seach Shield Study tatsächlich Opt-In?
